Appointment of Chairman Sergi Saurí

At the Assembly held on 26 October 2022, and at his own request, Modesto Batlle Girona, founding member of RUITEM and president since its beginnings, stepped down from his position. At the same assembly, Sergi Saurí Marchán was appointed president. Also at the same assembly, Modesto Batlle Girona was appointed honorary president for life.

Modesto Batlle announced his decision to step down from the presidency of RUITEM after 18 years at the helm, as he believes that new generations should take over so that RUITEM can continue to grow, and proposed Sergi Sauri as the new president. Sergi Saurí Marchán holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the UPC and a degree in Economics from the UB. He holds a Master’s degree in Maritime Law and Business and Port Management from the UPC. In 2008 he did a post-doctoral stay at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At a professional level, he is Director of CENIT (Centre for Transport Innovation) since 2013, Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia-BarcelonaTech (UPC) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Associate Professor at the Tecnocampus of the Pompeu Fabra University.
